If you want to buy an apartment or a house, you can take out a fixed-rate mortgage now. According to a study published on Tuesday by the comparison portal Comparis, the conditions for a significant fall in mortgage rates are currently lacking.

According to the information, the reference interest rates for ten-year fixed-rate mortgages published by over 30 banks are currently at 1.74 percent, 0.11 percentage points above the level at the beginning of the year. Interest rates have therefore calmed down considerably in recent months following the sharp fluctuations in the first half of the year.

Comparis predicts that benchmark interest rates are likely to remain at the current level in the coming months. A noticeable decline would require a significant cooling of the Swiss economy and a further fall in interest rates. However, this does not appear to be the case at present.

In addition, the banks' higher refinancing costs due to stricter regulatory requirements also do not point to falling mortgage rates.
