Parts of the UK are struggling with flooding after a severe storm. Around the town of Monmouth in south-east Wales, affected residents were moved to safe places, according to the authorities. Cars were partially submerged in water and several roads were temporarily closed due to the masses of water. Flooding was also reported in the neighboring southwest of England. There were also power cuts in the south-east of the EU country of Ireland.

"Storm Claudia has caused significant flooding in parts of Wales overnight, which continues to impact homes, businesses, transport and energy infrastructure," said the Welsh Government. Those affected should follow the instructions of the authorities and, if possible, help vulnerable neighbors.

The relevant authorities warned of flooding in numerous locations near rivers. They called on the population to stay away from rivers that have burst their banks and not to attempt to wade or drive through the floodwater. People should refrain from unnecessary travel and avoid Monmouth if possible.

Storm Claudia brought heavy rain to the region on Friday, which extended beyond Wales and into England. From Monday, a completely different problem is expected, namely cold with temperatures below freezing.
