The former head of SBB Real Estate, Jürg Stöckli, is to become the new Chairman of the Migros Aare Board of Directors. According to Migros, the 56-year-old from Bern has extensive experience in the real estate, transport and retail sectors.
These skills are important for the upcoming challenges facing Migros Aare, the largest Migros cooperative wrote in a press release on Friday. A ballot will decide on Stöckli's election.
From 2010 to 2018, Stöckli headed SBB Real Estate as a member of the Group Executive Board. Under his aegis, SBB became a major player in the real estate business. He then took on various directorships.
Stöckli is to take over from Jörg Blunschi, who stepped down in March following persistent criticism. Before Blunschi joined Migros Aare, he was instrumental in driving the expansion of Migros Zurich. After initial successes, however, these investments mainly resulted in high write-downs and losses.
