This was the result of a survey conducted by the Ifop Institute together with the tourism association Alliance France Tourisme. Half of people stated that they wanted to reduce their budget, either through a shorter stay or fewer summer trips (61 percent), less spending at the vacation destination (60 percent) and the search for cheaper offers (71 percent). Interest in camping vacations is therefore growing strongly.
The number of people who would like to go on a summer vacation for at least a week fell by nine percentage points to 68%. Only 37 percent were already certain that they would go on a summer vacation, compared to 50 percent last year. In view of global uncertainties such as the war in Iran, the proportion of people who want to spend their vacation in France rose by three percentage points to 71%.
In view of rising costs, only 24% of people in France want to go on vacation by plane according to the survey, 4% fewer than in 2025. 68% of people want to travel by car, four percentage points more than last year, with the proportion of train travelers remaining stable at 18%.
