The Fribourg cantonal police have arrested two men who are suspected of stealing several tractors and agricultural machinery in various cantons in western Switzerland. The value of the vehicles amounts to around 400,000 francs.
A total of five vehicles were stolen from farms and agricultural machinery garages, as the Fribourg cantonal police reported in a press release on Friday. The police targeted two young men aged 19 and 20, one Swiss and the other French.
The police arrested the two on Tuesday in Fribourg. They have confessed to the crimes. The young men had already taken some of the vehicles to a yard in France.
All of the stolen vehicles were found in Switzerland and France and returned to their owners, the police added.
