A gas explosion in Illarsaz (municipality of Collombey-Muraz) in the Lower Valais destroyed a house on Wednesday morning. No one was injured. The explosion occurred when workers punctured a gas pipe during road construction. No one was injured.

The gas exploded at around 8.40 a.m., according to the Valais cantonal police. The explosion from the underground gas pipe completely destroyed the nearby unoccupied house.

Various police and firefighters as well as an ambulance were dispatched to the scene of the accident. The police cordoned off the surrounding area during the operation and the assessment of the situation. Investigations were underway in the afternoon. The public prosecutor's office launched an investigation.
