"We regret SGS's decision to relocate its headquarters," Delphine Bachmann, a member of the Geneva State Council for Economic Affairs, was quoted as saying in a statement to the Keystone-SDA news agency. Prior to this, the newspaper "Le Temps" and the French-speaking Swiss radio and television station RTS had made the plans of the world's largest goods auditor public.
The canton has been in talks with SGS "for months", but to no avail, Bachmann continued. It was the free choice of a private player. However, they are now remaining in contact, not least because of the employees.
According to the information provided, SGS intends to propose the relocation at the next Annual General Meeting. This will take place on March 26.
According to the media reports, SGS justifies the move with a building in Geneva that is too large and too expensive. Zug is also closer to Zurich Airport.
