Following an attack on a 16-year-old girl in Oensingen SO, the youth prosecutor's office of the canton of Solothurn has opened a criminal investigation against six underage girls. The victim had to be taken to hospital with injuries.

The acts were filmed and video sequences were published on social media platforms. The Solothurn cantonal police confirmed a corresponding report by the "Blick" online portal on Tuesday at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. The act of violence took place on Friday evening, January 17, at Oensingen train station between 8.00 and 8.30 pm.
The alleged perpetrators are between 14 and 16 years old, according to police spokesman Bruno Gribi. The group assaulted the girl and humiliated her in various ways. The victim sustained injuries that required her to be admitted to hospital.
Investigations by the police and the youth welfare office led to the arrest of the six suspected girls of different nationalities. The criminal investigation into the assault was opened. Due to ongoing investigations, no further information on the course of the crime or the persons involved can be provided at present, the statement continued.
