Several shots were fired in Vétroz in Lower Valais on Sunday. The Valais cantonal police then launched a large-scale operation, as reported on the X platform.

The authorities did not initially comment on the background to the incident or any further details. The road through the village was temporarily closed, a police spokesperson told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. However, cars are now able to drive normally again.

When asked for advice to the local population, the spokesperson said it was important to follow the instructions of the emergency services on site.
