The incident took place at Bern railroad station in June 2021. A police patrol had noticed a staggering man near the Heiliggeistkirche church and wanted to stop him for a check. The man resisted and was brought to the ground.
One of the police officers is said to have placed his right knee on the man's neck to restrain him. Another police officer then roughly pushed the man into a police car.
Members of the media who happened to be present witnessed the incident. Bern's Tamedia newspapers reported on the case.
The Bern Regional Court acquitted the police officer who had pinned the man to the ground in 2023. It sentenced his colleague, who had manhandled the man into the car, to a conditional fine.
