Construction equipment manufacturer Hilti felt the effects of the difficult market environment last year. The strong Swiss franc had a noticeable impact on sales. Nevertheless, the Liechtenstein-based company kept its results stable.

Despite strongly negative currency effects of 71 million Swiss francs, the operating result of 769 million was almost at the previous year's level of 770 million, as the manufacturer of the famous red drilling machines announced on Friday. At the bottom line, net profit of 561 million was even one million more than in 2023.
Hilti already announced its sales in January. This fell by 1.4 percent to 6.4 billion Swiss francs. Negative currency effects weighed on sales with -2.9 percentage points, so that Hilti would still have grown by 1.5 percent in local currencies.
Meanwhile, the return on sales rose slightly to 12.0 percent from 11.8 percent in the previous year, while the return on capital employed fell slightly by 0.4 percentage points to 12.9 percent.
For the new year 2025, Hilti expects the market environment for the construction industry to be similar to 2024, although it will vary greatly depending on the region, according to the outlook. Overall, uncertainty in the markets is expected to persist, which should lead to a continued strong Swiss franc.
In 2025, Hilti expects sales growth in local currencies in the low single-digit range. The return on sales is expected to be at a similar level to the previous year.
