Landslides and cries for help

The city of Quy Nhon and the popular coastal town of Nha Trang, as well as other regions in central Vietnam, were particularly affected. Numerous roads were blocked by rockslides and landslides, bringing traffic to a partial standstill. Authorities and relatives received hundreds of calls for help from the affected areas. Meteorologists predicted further rainfall for the weekend.

On Sunday evening, a coach was hit by a landslide in the region and buried under earth and boulders. Six people were killed in the serious accident and 19 others were injured.

It was only at the beginning of the month that heavy rainfall caused severe flooding in central Vietnam. Dozens of people have already lost their lives. The towns of Hue and Hoi An, which are Unesco World Heritage Sites and popular with tourists from all over the world, were particularly affected.
