In the trade dispute with US President Donald Trump, the Chinese special administrative region of Hong Kong has suspended the shipment of goods to the United States. The US is being unreasonable, harassing and abusing tariffs, the Hongkong Post announced.

The Post will not levy customs duties on behalf of the USA and will suspend the acceptance of shipments destined for the USA, it added. Hong Kong justified the measure with the fact that Washington had previously announced that it would abolish the duty-free de minimis rule for mail from Hong Kong to the USA and increase tariffs on mail with goods destined for the USA from May 2. Shipments by land and sea would be suspended immediately. Air freight will no longer be accepted from April 27. Hong Kongers should be prepared for very high fees for sending goods to the USA, it added. Mail containing only documents, but no goods, will not be affected.
