The Swiss hotel industry continues to do well in the summer season. According to an initial estimate by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on Tuesday, the industry recorded 1.9 percent more overnight stays in July than in the previous year.

This means that the positive trend from the previous months is continuing. International guests accounted for 2.2% more overnight stays in July than a year ago. They thus made a significant contribution to the overall positive development. However, the number of overnight stays by Swiss guests also rose by 1.5 percent.

Having already recorded 20.4 million overnight stays (+1.4%) in the first half of 2025, the hotel industry in Switzerland is on course to beat the previous year's record of 42.8 million overnight stays with the July figures that have now been published.

The FSO will publish a second estimate of overnight stays in July on August 25. The definitive and absolute figures for January to July will follow on September 5.
