A hunter has shot another hunter in the west of the Czech Republic. The criminal police began an investigation on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter, as the newspaper "Pravo" reported on Sunday. Rescue workers were only able to determine the death of the man who had been hit. According to eyewitnesses, a bullet had hit the 67-year-old directly in the head. An autopsy by a forensic pathologist has been ordered.

The fatal incident occurred on Saturday afternoon during a hunt near the town of Kladruby in the Tachov district. Kladruby is located around 60 kilometers east of the Bavarian town of Weiden in the Upper Palatinate. The police carried out alcohol and other drug tests on the hunters, but the results were negative.

Around 70,000 active hunters in the Czech Republic

According to the national hunting association, 88,584 people in the Czech Republic have a hunting license, of which around 70,000 are actually active hunters. It was only at the beginning of August that another hunting accident occurred in the Tachov district. On that occasion, a hunter accidentally shot a treasure hunter instead of a fox, according to a police report. The 44-year-old had been busy searching a meadow for valuable objects with a metal detector.
