The airline group IAG with the airlines British Airways and Iberia earned less on the bottom line in the third quarter. Net profit fell by 2.3 percent to 1.4 billion euros.

The reasons for this include a certain slowdown on routes to the USA and competition in Europe. With these figures, IAG fell short of the expectations of the financial community.

However, turnover remained stable at 9.3 billion euros. In contrast, operating profit climbed by 2 percent to 2.1 billion euros. The company spoke of a good performance in view of the comparison with the record quarter in the previous year. Demand for travel remains strong, it said.
