In the USA, inflation weakened more than expected in June. Consumer prices rose by 3.0 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the US Department of Labor in Washington.

In the previous month, the rate had been 3.3 percent. Analysts had on average expected a slowdown to 3.1 percent.

The core inflation rate excluding energy and food fell from 3.4 percent in the previous month to 3.3 percent in June. The Fed pays particular attention to the core rate. According to experts, it reflects the general price trend better than the overall rate.

The Fed is heading towards an easing of its tight monetary policy. However, the monetary authorities are hesitant due to stubborn inflation.
