Consumer prices are thus continuing to rise slightly faster than the European Central Bank's (ECB) target (2.0 percent). According to the data, the main reason for the slightly higher inflation was that energy prices no longer fell as sharply as in the previous year. They fell by 0.5 percent after 1.0 percent in October.
Prices for food, alcohol and tobacco rose again by 2.5 percent. Services rose by 3.5 percent compared to the same month last year, the report continued.
The highest inflation rates in November were recorded in Estonia (4.7 percent), Croatia (4.3 percent), Latvia and Slovakia (3.8 percent each). According to the statisticians, the lowest price increases were recorded in Cyprus (0.2 percent), France (0.8 percent) and Italy (1.1 percent). For Germany, the EU statisticians forecast inflation of 2.3 percent for November.
