Italy Injured in collision between two boats in Venice
Several people were injured in a collision between two boats in the Italian lagoon city of Venice. Near a landing stage, a privately used pleasure boat collided with one of the vaporetto boats used for public transportation, as reported by the transport company ACTV.

A woman in the vaporetto fell to the ground so hard that she had to be taken to hospital. Another passenger was taken to hospital because he had been injured by broken glass. Three passengers with minor injuries were treated as outpatients.
Pleasure craft obviously went off course
According to the information provided, the collision occurred near the Sant'Elena landing stage in the Castello district. According to initial findings, the pleasure craft deviated from its route and then hit the vaporetto. The police and coastguard were also involved in the investigation.
The authorities did not initially provide any further details on the nationality of the injured or the exact course of events. Venice is one of the most visited cities in Italy. Numerous foreign tourists also stay there in December.
