Russia accuses Ukraine of more than 80 violations of the 30-day ceasefire of mutual attacks on energy facilities. This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in Moscow on Thursday, the 30th day of the limited ceasefire.

"The Ukrainian army has been attacking the infrastructure of the Russian fuel and energy sector literally every day with the help of drones," Zakharova told the state news agency Tass.

According to earlier statements by the Kremlin, President Vladimir Putin must decide whether Russia will continue to adhere to this restriction on attacks. Putin announced the ceasefire after a phone call with US President Donald Trump on March 18.

This came as a surprise to Ukraine. It agreed in principle, but demanded an extension to other infrastructure. Moscow, on the other hand, unilaterally published only a list of energy facilities that allegedly should not be targeted.

Fewer attacks on energy facilities

In fact, there were no major Russian attacks on Ukrainian power plants in the 30 days. However, Ukraine reported localized damage to the power supply following Russian airstrikes. Russian shelling of civilian objects increased and has cost the lives of dozens of Ukrainians since the beginning of April. For its part, the Ukrainian army no longer shelled Russian refineries, which had caused Moscow major problems in the weeks before.

Zakharova cited a Ukrainian drone attack on a compressor station of the Turkish Stream gas export pipeline in southern Russia on April 9 as a particularly serious violation. In the days that followed, many overland power lines in Russian regions close to the border were destroyed.
