Politics 364 tons of food and product donations for "2 times Christmas"
The public and companies have donated 364 tons of food and hygiene products for distribution in Germany for the "2 times Christmas" campaign. CHF 214,000 was collected for Red Cross winter aid projects abroad.

Between December 24 and January 18, private individuals donated 50,900 parcels, the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) announced on Tuesday. Numerous companies also took part in the campaign this year. The solidarity campaign, which took place for the 29th time this year, was organized by the SRC, SRG, Coop and Swiss Post.
The retailer Coop took part with a donation of 89.9 tons of goods worth around 430,000 francs. Swiss Post collected the parcels at home free of charge and transported them to the SRC logistics center in Wabern BE. Additional bags were also distributed in some regions of French-speaking Switzerland. The campaign received media coverage on SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR.
According to the SRC, the products will be prepared by around 500 volunteers for handover from February. The cantonal associations of the Red Cross will then distribute the food and personal hygiene products directly to people living in poverty or via institutions such as soup kitchens or women's shelters.
According to the SRC, 708,000 people in Switzerland are living in poverty as of 2023. "2 times Christmas" also provides help abroad: around 3,000 people in Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova are supported with monetary donations.
