US special envoy Keith Kellogg is optimistic that President Donald Trump's peace plan will end the war between Russia and Ukraine. "It's a good plan," Kellogg said in an interview with Fox News. "The framework is there to come to a conclusion."

The end of the war is within reach; from a military perspective, the last ten meters are always the most difficult, the general said. "And we're on the last two meters - we're almost there," Kellogg said in an interview with Lara Trump, the US president's daughter-in-law. Some things in the 28-point document still needed some adjustment and more explanation, Kellogg said. This is a matter for negotiations.
Ukraine has made it clear that it does not want to make any concessions to Russia on territorial claims or alliance issues, as envisaged in the plan presented by Trump, among other things. According to Kellogg, it is understandable that the Ukrainians have adopted this stance "for their own people". But now it was a matter of "making smart decisions".
Kellogg is considered the politician in the Trump administration who is most likely to sympathize with Kiev. He assumes that Russia is also interested in a solution in view of catastrophic losses in its own ranks and that both warring parties will ultimately agree to the plan: "I think we can get the Ukrainians to do it, and I think we can get the Russians to do it later."
