A timber construction wins the competition for the new HSG campus

The "Tsumiki" project by "Graber Pulver Architekt:innen" has won the competition for the new campus of the University of St. Gallen.

"Graber Pulver Architekt:innen" with offices in Bern and Zurich have won the second competition for the new HSG campus on the edge of St. Gallen city center. The timber building with space for 3,000 students is due to be completed in 2032.

A winning project for the new HSG campus had already been announced in April 2021. However, the canton then announced in September 2023 that the work would be stopped. The project had not progressed satisfactorily, it was said at the time.

A new attempt was therefore needed. The jury's decision for the revised competition was announced on Wednesday. The new campus at Platztor is being built by "Graber Pulver Architekt:innen". They are planning a timber construction with a main usable area of 12,000 square meters. The total costs were already determined in 2019. They amount to 207 million francs.
