According to CEO Fabrice Zumbrunnen, the Viva healthcare network from Aevis Victoria is not yet making a profit. It recently had fewer members than originally planned, as the ex-Migros manager said in an interview with the "CH Media" newspapers on Friday.

Zumbrunnen explained that Viva currently has just over 3,000 members in the Jura Arc and Ticino - significantly fewer than the original target of 10,000 in the first year. "We have to convince each person individually," said Zumbrunnen. You can't simply automatically convert existing Visana products, which are invested with 150 million francs. "If we manage to double the number every year, I'll be satisfied."

Nevertheless, there have been positive developments: The network had already saved 10 percent of healthcare costs in its first year, Zumbrunnen said. And Viva is having positive effects for the entire Aevis Group. He did not give any details.

Viva pursues the goal of coordinating the treatment of patients across outpatient and inpatient areas with "integrated care". Thanks to prevention, targeted examinations and digital networking, chronically ill patients require fewer hospital stays, said Zumbrunnen. The project is part of the Swiss Medical Network (SMN) group of clinics and aims to overcome fragmentation in the healthcare system.

Viva has been active in the cantons of Jura, Neuchâtel and Bern since 2024 and in Ticino since 2025. Expansion in German-speaking Switzerland is set to follow in 2026 - with a network based around the regional hospital in Zofingen. Over two thirds of members already share their health data with Viva, which should simplify the delivery of medication or emergency treatment, for example.
