The authorities on the Crimean peninsula, which has been annexed by Russia since 2014, have introduced restrictions on the distribution of petrol following the Ukrainian drone attacks on oil facilities. AI-95 petrol - the equivalent of Super in Europe - will be distributed primarily to public and social transportation, the governor of the region appointed by Moscow, Sergei Aksyonov, announced on Telegram. Ordinary citizens could only fill up with the fuel with a ration card - and then without a quantity limit. For the AI-92 (normal) brand, an upper limit of 20 liters applies.

"Refueling in canisters is prohibited," Aksyonov also wrote. This is apparently intended to prevent hoarding. According to him, the restrictions will initially apply for a period of 30 days. Meanwhile, numerous videos of long queues at petrol stations in Crimea are circulating on the internet.
Since the beginning of the war against Ukraine ordered by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, Crimea has served as a supply base for the Russian troops attacking in the south of Ukraine. As a result, the peninsula has increasingly become the target of Ukrainian drone and missile attacks. Oil facilities in particular are increasingly coming under attack. The refinery in the city of Feodosiya, for example, has been burning for two days. Kiev's aim is to make it more difficult to supply the occupying troops.
