Following the Israeli attack on a hospital in the southern Gaza Strip that left several people dead, a military spokesman has assured transparency in the investigation. Chief of Staff Ejal Zamir had ordered an immediate investigation to clarify the circumstances, Effie Defrin said in a press release. "As always, we will present our findings as transparently as possible."

Defrin emphasized that the army did not intentionally attack civilians. However, the troops were acting in an "extremely complex reality". According to him, Islamist Hamas terrorists deliberately use civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, as shields. In the past, they had even operated from Nasser Hospital.

According to the hospital, 19 people, including five journalists, were killed in the Israeli attack at the clinic in Chan Junis in the south of the coastal strip. The Hamas-controlled health authority spoke of 20 dead. There is widespread international outrage over the incident. The German Foreign Office, for example, expressed its shock at the incident. "The attack must be investigated," the ministry wrote on Platform X.
