In the investigation into the fatal car explosion in New Delhi last week, the Indian Counter-Terrorism Bureau has arrested a second suspect.

The arrest was made in the Indian part of Kashmir. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) accused the man of providing "technical assistance for carrying out terrorist attacks".

Before the "car bomb blast" in the capital, he had modified drones and attempted to manufacture missiles. It was unclear whether such objects were seized during the raid.

"Suicide attack"

The Indian government classified the explosion on the evening of November 10 near the historic Red Fort palace complex in a busy part of the city as a terrorist incident. According to the NIA, at least ten people were killed and 32 others were injured. The agency is calling it a suicide attack. The suspect who has now been arrested is said to have worked closely with the driver of the car - a university lecturer in medicine - and helped plan the attack.

The man is the second Kashmiri that the NIA says it has arrested in the course of its investigations. The first is said to have bought the car for the attack in New Delhi and also worked with the later driver of the car, it was reported on Sunday. The car was later used as an "improvised explosive device". "The NIA is further investigating the case from various angles to unravel the conspiracy behind the bomb blast," the agency said.
