According to the state news agency INA, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein declared on Friday that there were "clear threats" from Israel against Iraq. The Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, had instructed the armed forces to "take measures against those who launch attacks on Iraqi territory".
Earlier, there had been media reports that the USA had informed Baghdad that Israeli military strikes against Iraq were imminent if the Iraqi government did not succeed in preventing attacks on Israel by pro-Iranian militias from Iraq. Israel has not yet commented on this.
Since the beginning of the Gaza war more than a year ago, there have been repeated attacks on Israel by the "resistance axis" of Iran's allies. These include militias in Iraq.
