Following the release of further Hamas hostages, the Israeli army has withdrawn from the so-called Netzarim corridor in the Gaza Strip in accordance with an agreement, according to media reports. This divides the coastal strip into a northern and a southern half. The Israeli army radio reported that the military had completely left the area. There was initially no official confirmation of this. Israeli security sources merely reported that the army was preparing to implement the agreement.

Israel had already withdrawn from part of the strategically important Nezarim Corridor after the start of the ceasefire with Hamas. It was then supposed to vacate it completely - apart from a one-kilometer-wide area directly on the border with Israel. This would allow Palestinians who have been displaced from the northern cities to the south as a result of the war to return to their largely destroyed homes in even greater numbers than before.
