Among those affected were a cameraman from the Arabic television channel Al-Jazeera and a correspondent from the Turkish news agency Anadolu, according to a statement from the association, which is based in Ramallah in the West Bank. "Security forces" of the Islamist organization were responsible. No further details of the attack were initially given.
The incident, which the Palestinian Journalists' Association condemned in the strongest terms, reportedly took place when the three journalists were working near a clinic in the town of Chan Junis in the south of the sealed-off Gaza Strip. The association also published a photo showing one of the reporters attacked with visible injuries to his upper arm. The information could not initially be independently verified.
Foreign journalists have been largely banned from entering the Gaza Strip since the start of the war. However, local reporters are reporting from the ground. There are repeated reports of journalists being killed in Israeli attacks.
