At least 20 people have died in an explosion at a train station in Pakistan's troubled Baluchistan province, according to official reports. More than 30 others were injured, many seriously, according to officials. A suicide bomber was probably responsible for the explosion in the busy railroad station in Quetta, they said.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack. It demands more autonomy for the resource-rich province and repeatedly carries out attacks. However, their actions are now also directed against major Chinese projects in the region. Extremists in the province accuse the government in Beijing of land and resource theft.
