Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) has expressly praised the cancellation of Taylor Swift's three concerts in Vienna. The organizer's decision was "very responsible and understandable", Nehammer said at a media conference. The suspects could have caused a major bloodbath with their means.

Without the timely intervention of the investigators, there would have been the threat of "immeasurable damage". Tens of thousands of fans of the US star had been deprived of great joy by the Islamists. "I understand very well that the sadness is very great."

According to previous investigations, a 19-year-old IS supporter wanted to kill as many people as possible with knives and a bomb at one of the Swift concerts planned in Vienna. According to the authorities, the man who has since been arrested has made a full confession. In it, the accused spoke of two accomplices, said Nehammer. A 17-year-old was also arrested. A 15-year-old youth is in police custody but has not yet been arrested.
