In the Russian region of Belgorod, which borders Ukraine, a man was fatally injured in a drone attack on a farm. The drone dropped an explosive device and the resident died when it exploded, the governor of Belgorod, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced on his Telegram channel. He had previously also reported that four people had been injured in Ukrainian shelling of the village of Oktyabrsky. The people had been taken to hospital.

The Russian border regions have been repeatedly attacked by the Ukrainian side in the war, which has been going on for more than two and a half years. Kiev wants to destroy supply routes. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported 47 drone attacks from the Ukrainian side on Sunday.

Russian advance in eastern Ukraine

According to the ministry, Russian troops continued to advance in eastern Ukraine - particularly in the Donetsk region, where numerous villages were recently occupied. The Russian state news agency Tass reported that the village of Vyshneve had now been captured there, a further step towards the conquest of the strategically important mining and industrial city of Pokrovsk. The information is not independently verifiable.
