The Beznau 1 nuclear power plant in the canton of Aargau is back on the grid after a shutdown lasting several weeks. The investigations into the feedwater tanks have been completed, as the energy company Axpo announced on Monday.

According to Axpo, the Beznau 1 nuclear power plant was taken off the grid on September 28 for repair work on a power cable. This work had proceeded according to plan, but start-up was delayed due to new results from an inspection of the feedwater tanks.

The clarifications have now been completed and the safety of the feedwater tanks, which are located in the turbine building in the non-nuclear part of the plant, has been confirmed. The Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (Ensi) has been informed of the results.
