The French and British Chiefs of Staff have discussed further support for Ukraine during a visit to Kiev. Both further military assistance for Kiev in the fight against the Russian army and a long-term strategy for the restructuring of the Ukrainian armed forces were discussed with the representatives of the Ukrainian leadership, French Chief of Staff Thierry Burkhard announced on Platform X. He and his British colleague Tony Radakin also met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, Army Chief Olexander Syrskyi and Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov in Kiev.

So-called reinsurance options were also an important point of the talks in Kiev. This refers to the deployment of international peacekeeping troops to Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire. Both London and Paris are prepared to do this, but are still looking for other partners for an international coalition. "Together we want to secure a lasting and firm peace in Ukraine, an important prerequisite for the security of the European continent," wrote Burkhard.
