Canadian Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne announced "that Canada will repeal the Digital Services Tax (DST) in anticipation of a mutually beneficial comprehensive trade agreement with the United States", according to a government statement on Sunday. The digital tax is particularly burdensome for tech companies.
It also said that US President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had agreed that both sides "will resume negotiations to reach an agreement by July 21, 2025".
