The leader of the Conservative Party in Canada, Pierre Poilievre, has conceded defeat in the general election and congratulated incumbent Prime Minister Mark Carney on his victory. The Conservative Party will "do its job and hold the government to account", he said in a speech in the capital Ottawa.
