On Thursday in Kloten ZH, the Swiss Automobile Importers Association took a stand against the CO2 Ordinance. It is a serious threat to the automotive industry. The association is proposing a 10-point plan.

The CO2 Ordinance is proving to be unrealistic for Swiss car importers, explained Peter Grünenfelder, President of Auto Schweiz, at a media conference held by the association on Thursday. He described it as a "head-on clash between political desire and reality".

The industry is threatened with over-regulation with fines running into millions because too few e-cars are being put on the road. This would also put jobs at risk.

According to Auto Schweiz, ten concrete measures are needed to make e-mobility a success. It proposes, for example, a moratorium on the automobile tax on e-vehicles, complete liberalization of the electricity market and the abandonment of cost-driving regulations.
