One month after the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel came into force, there is concern in Lebanon about a possible collapse. "We are sitting on a time bomb that we don't know when it might explode again," a Lebanese government representative told the German Press Agency.

On November 27, a ceasefire brokered by the USA and France came into force to end the fighting between Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah. It is initially to apply for around two months. Nevertheless, tensions remain high as both sides accuse each other of violating the ceasefire. There have been repeated casualties, especially on the Lebanese side.
"The violations of the agreement raise our concern that Israel is not respecting all aspects," another government representative close to Hezbollah told dpa.
Expert: "Ceasefire not in danger"
According to Lebanese security sources, there have been 259 Israeli violations since November 27. The information could not initially be independently verified. According to Israeli media reports, the military has since killed 44 Hezbollah members who had violated the agreement.
However, some experts did not see the ceasefire in danger. Israel is enforcing the agreement, political analyst Makram Rabah told dpa. This also includes the disarmament of Hezbollah. As long as Hezbollah does not react to attacks, analyst Riad Kahwadschi also rules out a collapse. "I don't think Hezbollah will do it because they know that they would then have to expect a massive counterattack," he said.
