Drugs Controversial cannabis law: pioneering role or leading the way
Cannabis is to be legalized for adults in Switzerland. However, political parties and organizations disagree on how the regulation of cannabis should be implemented in Switzerland. This is shown by the consultation responses.

In its statement, the SP wrote that the law promotes a more responsible and lower-risk approach to cannabis, which guarantees the protection of minors. The SVP concluded that market regulation and legalization of cannabis for non-medical purposes contradict a responsible drug policy.
Both the Conference of Cantonal Health Directors (GDK) and the Blue Cross are calling for the results of the current pilot projects to be awaited first. The legal distribution of cannabis has been tested in Switzerland for two years. The consultation ended on December 1.
