The Russian airstrikes on the Ukrainian capital Kiev during the night also damaged the European Union representation.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha accused Russia on Platform X of deliberately targeting diplomats. It was a violation of the Vienna Convention, he said, and international condemnation of the attack was necessary. "We express our solidarity with our EU colleagues and are ready to provide support," said Sybiha, who also published photos of damage to offices.
EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos condemned the "brutal attacks" on Platform X. "A clear sign that Russia rejects peace & chooses terror," she said. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, at least eight people were killed in the Russian air strikes in Kiev and dozens were injured.
In addition to drones, the Russian military also used ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and hypersonic Kinschal (Dagger) missiles. Ukraine, which is striving to join the EU, has been defending itself against the Russian war of aggression for more than three and a half years.
