In Ukraine, at least four people have been killed in a Russian drone attack on the city of Sumy in the north-east. The bodies were recovered from the rubble of a high-rise building that had been hit, the regional administration announced this morning. Nine people were injured, including a child, it said.

The rescue work in the town near the border with Russia was continuing. A Russian drone had crashed into the residential building. Five apartments and twelve balconies on four floors were destroyed. Dozens of windows were reportedly broken. Several cars on the ground were damaged, the authorities reported.

President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke of a heinous crime. "It is important that the world does not let up in exerting pressure on Russia because of this terror", he said on the X platform.

Sumy has repeatedly been the target of Russian attacks in Moscow's war of aggression against Ukraine, which has been going on for almost three years.
