According to Lebanese reports, two people have been killed and several injured in renewed Israeli air strikes in Lebanon. According to the Lebanese state news agency NNA, two brothers were killed on a country road at the western foot of Mount Hermon in the south-east of the country when their car was hit by a projectile and burst into flames. Earlier, according to NNA, seven people had been injured in an aerial attack on a vehicle in the southern Lebanese town of Bint Dschubail.

The Israeli army confirmed that it had carried out an airstrike in the area in question. Two members of a militia allied with the Shiite Hezbollah were killed. The two men had been involved in smuggling weapons for Hezbollah, according to the military statement. In Israel's opinion, they were in breach of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon. The army did not comment on the previous attack near Bint Djubail.

Conflict intensifies again

Tensions between Israel and the Shiite Hezbolllah militia have recently increased significantly again. The Israeli army is increasingly attacking buildings and vehicles that it associates with the Iranian-backed militia. Both sides agreed to a ceasefire a year ago after months of war. With the support of the USA, Israel is pushing for Hezbollah to be disarmed. However, the Israelis accuse the organization of secretly arming itself and attacks targets in Lebanon almost daily.
