Fighting continues in Ukraine despite plans for a second round of negotiations to end the Russian war of aggression. According to the regional military governor, Ivan Fedorov, a nine-year-old girl was killed in Russian attacks in a village near the front line in the Zaporizhzhya region on Saturday night. A 16-year-old boy was injured. According to regional authorities, there was also one death in Kherson following shelling.

According to the regional military administration, rockets hit a residential area and destroyed warehouses in a Russian attack on the Ukrainian region of Sumy near the border. At least one person was injured. In addition, a further eleven villages are to be forcibly evacuated.
In the Russian region of Kursk, the number of people injured in Ukrainian drone attacks rose to 14, the governor of the region, Alexander Chinschtejn, wrote on Telegram. Previously, there had been talk of at least ten injured. Several residential buildings had been damaged.

Russia has been waging a war of aggression against the neighboring country for more than three years. The leadership in Moscow has scheduled a second round of negotiations in Istanbul for June 2 to discuss a possible end to the war with representatives of Ukraine. Direct talks were resumed this month on Russia's initiative for the first time since 2022.
