According to unconfirmed reports, at least ten people were killed and more than 40 others injured in an Israeli attack in the north of the Gaza Strip.

Eyewitnesses told the German Press Agency by telephone that they had been queuing at a food distribution point run by the UN Palestinian Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Jabalia when Israeli shells hit.

The Israeli army said on request that it was investigating the incident. It was not initially possible to independently verify the information provided by both sides.

According to Palestinian reports, at least 25 people died in Israeli attacks on a school and a hospital in the center of the Gaza Strip. The army announced that a Hamas command center had been attacked.

The Gaza war was triggered by the unprecedented attack by the Islamist Hamas and its allies on southern Israel on October 7 last year. More than 1,200 people were killed and around 250 were taken hostage in the Gaza Strip.
