According to Palestinian reports, Israeli attacks on targets in the Gaza Strip have once again left many dead. Since the early hours of the morning, at least 40 people have died in attacks in various parts of the sealed-off coastal area, according to medical sources. The information could not initially be independently verified.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported deaths in several areas of the Gaza Strip. Attacks were reported near the city of Gaza and in Chan Junis in the south of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military initially provided no information on the latest attacks.

Israel examines Hamas' response to ceasefire

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to reach a ceasefire between Israel and the Islamist Hamas. The terrorist organization has agreed in principle to a new proposal for a ceasefire and, according to its own statements, has sent a "positive response" to the mediators. Hamas is prepared to enter into indirect negotiations. However, there may be conditions or reservations.

The Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" reported, citing officials, that Israel had received Hamas' response. Details are now being examined, it said. According to the newspaper report, a meeting of the security cabinet is planned for late this evening. The meeting had already been planned beforehand, but the Hamas response is now likely to be the focus of the talks.
