The Democratic Party in the USA has reached a new low following President Donald Trump's election victory. In the latest poll commissioned by the news channel CNN, they now only have 29% approval. This is the lowest figure since CNN surveys began in 1992, the broadcaster reported.

Democrats are currently struggling to figure out how to combat Trump and the Republicans, and they have no clear lead. The poll was conducted before Senate Democrats allowed a stopgap budget introduced by Republicans to pass, incurring the wrath of many of their supporters.
As the poll also shows, most Democratic-leaning respondents do not have a favorite for the party's leadership. In response to an open-ended question, 30 percent of respondents did not provide a name. Ten percent named Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, nine percent favored failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris and eight percent backed independent leftist Senator Bernie Sanders.
In an NBC poll, meanwhile, President Trump had an approval rating of 47 percent. 51 percent were dissatisfied with the Republican.
