The Court of Justice of the European Union is raising the hurdles for determining safe countries of origin for accelerated asylum procedures. The EU member states can only define lists of safe countries if they disclose the sources for their assessment and the entire population in the country is safe, the court in Luxembourg ruled. The case concerned Italy's "Albania model".
