The attacker drove his vehicle into a bus stop near Kfar Jona, 35 kilometers north of Tel Aviv, as previously reported by Israeli media citing police sources. He rammed into passers-by waiting there. The reports, which referred to the emergency services, had initially spoken of five moderately injured and three lightly injured.
The attacker continued his journey after the attack, it was further reported. A short time later, the police found the vehicle he had left behind. The security forces launched an intensive search for him.
In Israel and the occupied West Bank, there are repeated terrorist attacks in which Palestinians deliberately drive their vehicles into crowds of people. Soldiers are often the victims of these attacks.
