The President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Sajid, has addressed his people with urgent words in the face of the Iranian attacks. "We are at war," Mohammed told Abu Dhabi TV during a visit to injured people in hospital in the capital.

He also had a message for his enemies: "The Emirates have a thick skin and bitter flesh, we are not easy prey." Although the country is "attractive, beautiful and a role model", the Emirates' opponents should not be fooled by this. "I promise everyone that we will emerge stronger than ever (from this war)."

The Emirates, like the other Gulf states, have been under fire from Iran for a week, which has responded to American-Israeli military strikes by attacking US military bases, among other things. Compared to the other Gulf states, the Emirates have been attacked most frequently to date. The country's air defense system has so far intercepted around 200 missiles, 1,100 drones and several cruise missiles.
